White Hart Lane look to win race for highly rated midfielder.
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN could be bound for White Hart Lane in January after snubbing Ajax’s efforts to discuss a new contract.
The Denmark international has been a loyal servant to the Dutch outfit since joining in 2009, but he appears to be ready for pastures new.
Spurs face a tussle to land their man with Manchester United also reportedly interested.
Ajax’s sporting director, Marc Overmars said: “We want Christian to sign a new deal, but he is not interested.
Having won the race to land Belgian Jan Vertonghen the White Hart Lane side may feel they can bring in another or Ajax’s prized assets and it does seem as though Christian Eriksen is moving nearer to an Amsterdam exit.
Andre Villas-Boas may well have earmarked the 20 year old Danish international as an ideal replacement for Luka Modric and the talented youngster certainly has the attributes and potential to fill the void that hasn’t really been dealt with by the additions of Moussa Dembele and Clint Dempsey.
Eriksen has helped Ajax to back to back domestic titles and a decent Champions League showing and may feel he has grown as much as he can at the Amsterdam Arena and a move away from the Dutch top tier is inevitable for any up and coming player and a move to the Premier League could well be tempting for the intelligent playmaker.
Frank de Boer is sure to being after a big fee for Eriksen, who notched up 19 assist in Eredivisie action alone last season.
