Loftus Road side keen on Anfield midfielder.
Liverpool outcast Joe Cole is a loan target for the new Queen’s Park Rangers manager, Harry Redknapp.
The 31-year-old midfielder has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers and Redknapp, who handed Cole his professional debut in 1998, will look to secure a deal in January until the end of the season. Cole has made just seven appearances so far this season for Liverpool.
This is a move that would suit all parties. Joe Cole has been given a chance to prove himself to Brendan Rodgers, perhaps more so than Kenny Dalglish offered the former England regular, but the attacking midfielder has signally failed to impress and a move to QPR would at least offer the 31 year old the chance of regular first team football.
That has to be preferable to wasting away on the Anfield bench but one big stumbling block could be the need to cover Joe Cole’s £90k a week wages. One would imagine that the Merseyside club would insist that QPR cover most, if not all, of the expenditure if they want the experienced former West Ham and Chelsea man on a temporary deal.
QPR could of course opt to sign the player on a permanent basis, no doubt Liverpool wouldn’t demand a great deal for Cole.
Harry Redknapp will attempt to pull QPR away from the drop zone but has quite a battle on his hand after the Super Hoops made it 14 Premier League games without a win and the West London side are now a massive eight points from safety.
