Stamford Bridge side ready to move quickly to snap up PSG starlet.
Arsenal and Chelsea could be forced to ramp up their interest in Paris St. Germain’s Marco Verratti after Juventus emerged as serious contenders to sign him.
Verratti has excelled while at PSG and his performances have been noted by the two Premier League sides.
The pair will have to move quickly, though, if they want to secure the midfielder as Juventus are very keen.
Carlo Ancelotti is under increasing pressure at PSG and could be axed – and the Parisian club could also lose one of their brightest prospects as Juve close in.
Verratti has a good relationship with Ancelotti and will seek an exit if the former Chelsea manager gets sacked, with the Serie A side confident they can beat interest from England to land the 20-year-old.
Chelsea are right to keep an eye on developments at the Parc des Princes as Marco Verratti is a talented player who could well fit neatly into a Blues squad that promises much for the future.
Having spend £80m plus on six youngsters over the summer Roman Abramovich will surely look to further improve a Chelsea squad that has lost it’s way of late. The 20 year old Italian international has impressed at PSG this term as one of many new additions brought in by Carlo Ancelotti over the summer but if the former Stamford Bridge is axed then the former Pescara man may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League.
PSG has lost three of their last five Ligue 1 matches and have fallen to third spot in the table. Ancelotti would’ve been expected to secure the club’s first domestic title in almost twenty years as a result of the huge sums invested by the side’s Qatari owners.
Anything less than that and Ancelotti could be axed. Indeed the axe may swing even sooner than next summer and as such Chelsea could well look to make an offer for the young midfielder.
Chelsea have seen summer signings Oscar and Eden Hazard make instant impacts in the first team, though perhaps less so of late, whilst at the same time the futures of old guard trio Ashley Cole, John Terry and Frank Lampard still seemingly hang in the balance as the West London side make a concerted effort to plan for the future.
