Old Trafford side target Anderlecht maestro.
Inside Futbol claim that Anderlecht midfielder Lucas Biglia is edging towards a January exit from his Brussels based club.
The Argentine international is quoted as saying that he hopes to leave Anderlecht and openly discusses the apparent €8m (£6.5m) price-tag on his head.
Man United and Arsenal are said to be leading the chase and Sir Alex Ferguson could well do with freshening up a midfield that has been fairly lax this term.
The Old Trafford side have shipped in far too many goals this season and a lot of blame has been laid at the feet of the defence but the Scot will be more than aware that his side’s midfield are seemingly unable to stem the tide of opposition advances.
This is where a player like Lucas Biglia fits in.
The 26 year old has spent the last six years with Anderlecht, helping the club to three domestic titles and in the process forcing his way into the national team set-up despite plying his trade in a fairly average league. No doubt Biglia will hope that a high-profile move would further assist his national team ambitions.
Ferguson has stuck with Michael Carrick for much of the current campaign but has seen the likes Anderson, Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes battle for a spot alongside the England man and a move for a box to box performer like Biglia would give him further strength in depth, and at £6.5m such a move would be something of a bargain.
