Stadium of Light side look to boost firepower with move for young Etihad Stadium striker.
Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill wants to revive his bid to sign Manchester City striker John Guidetti on loan in January.
O’Neill tried to sign the 20-year-old in August but the Sweden forward was struggling after a paralysis virus which he picked up in April.
Other clubs are also interested but Sunderland will offer a loan with a view to a £6.5million deal.

Even though Swedish international John Guidetti is some way down Roberto Mancini’s striking queue it is unlikely that the Italian will be keen on losing a player of such obvious potential. The 20 year old spent last season on loan at Feyenoord and scored 20 goals in 23 matches, form that led to a full senior national team call-up.
However Guidetti is still yet to play a single minute of Premier League football and may well feel his career is stagnating at Man City. There is every chance that Mancini would agree to the loan element of any possible Black Cats switch but won’t be so likely to accept any deal that includes a permanent transfer element.
Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill is under real pressure to guide his side away from the drop zone and the North-East side’s return of 13 goals in 14 Premier League matches tells it’s own story. Summer signing Steven Fletcher is shouldering the club’s goal-scoring burden by himself and could well do with support up front.
