Upton Park side plot move for Hannover ace.
West Ham have been placed on red alert after Mohammed Abdellaoue’s agent opened the door to a January move away from Hannover.
Abdellaoue, the Norway international, has been at Hannover since 2010.
The striker has scored 31 goals since switching to the German side and is believed to be on the radar of Arsenal, West Ham, Roma and Lazio.
His representative Stig Lillejord is aware of interest in the 27-year-old and says his client could be open to offers next month.
He told Calciomercato: “I know the rumours but no-one has contacted me. So far there have been no formal offers. What if something happens in January? Then we have to ask Hannover.”
Olso born forward Mohammed Abdellaoue has been remarkable effective since his move to the Bundesliga and it’s perhaps a tad surprising that the Hannover man has not yet been snapped up by a ‘bigger’ German side or indeed an interested party from elsewhere in Europe.
The 27 year old netted 10 and 16 goals in his first team seasons at the AWD-Arena, helping the club to back to back top seven finishes and Europa League qualification berths and thus far this term the former Valerenga forward has scored another five goals for Mirko Slomka’s side.
West Ham have at times struggled for goals this season, netting 19 in 15 Premier League matches, being particularly lax away from home where the Hammers have managed just five in seven outings. Perhaps more worryingly very few goals are coming from Sam Allardyce’s forwards leaving captain Kevin Nolan having to cover up the shortfall.
One would imagine it wouldn’t take a massive bid to lure Abdellaoue to Upton Park and the prolific forward appears to be keen on just such a switch.
