Arsenal to miss out on striker target this January. The Gunners are set to miss out on Fernando Llorente, one of Arsene Wenger’s longtime targets. The Bilbao striker is on his way to Juventus in the January transfer window, according to a talkSPORT report.
The Bianconeri will reportedly offer £5 million to the Basque side for the Spain International and it is thought the 27-year old is keen to spearhead the Juve attack in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Bilbao’s Chilean manager, Marcelo Bielsa, who had been firm on his position to keep Llorente is now beginning to show signs of admitting defeat in the saga to keep the prolific goalscorer.
Juventus will use the boost in their finances following qualification from the continental cup’s group stage to fund the deal the Spanish side wants.
Llorente had been attracting the interest of various European giants in the last year, especially after he helped guide Bilbao to last year’s Europa League final, knocking out Manchester United in the process.
Arsenal’s hopes of finding their dream replacement for Robin van Persie now appear to to be over, as Italian media reports seem certain Llorente’s destination will be Turin and not London, come the start of the new year.
