Emirates Stadium side keen on landing tough tackling Brazilian.
Arsene Wenger has added midfielder Luis Gustavo to his wanted list for next month’s transfer window.
Wenger concedes he needs to strenghten his squad now, after they faded badly following a promising start to the season. And he has been impressed by 25-year-old Gustavo.
The Arsenal manager had earmarked Abou Diaby for the strongman role in midfield but the France international has once again been plagued by injury problems.
Wenger has been impressed by Gustavo and now wants to add him to his squad if he can agree a fee of around £10m.

Arsenal could well do with a tough tackling presence in their lightweight midfielder and perhaps Luiz Gustavo is the man for the job.
The Brazilian has struggled to establish a first-team spot and could well be ready to leave the Allianz Arena, not least because he has had several run-ins with Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes.
Wenger may well have run out of patience with Abou Diaby as the French international is either perennially injured or just woefully off form and a move to Gustavo could well be the answer to the club’s lack of steel.
The Arsenal boss has had to use Mikel Arteta in a holding role to help add balance to their midfield but has therefore lost the impetus the Spaniard can add to the club’s attack.
Gustavo has been a consistent performer when used by Bayern Munich and the experienced campaigner could well be tempted by a move to Arsenal where he would join national team colleague Andre Santos at the Emirates Stadium.
