Old Trafford side strongly linked with interest in Anfield teenager.
Manchester United are considering an astonishing swoop to steal Liverpool contract rebel Raheem Sterling from their greatest rivals, writes the Sunday People.
People Sport understands Sir Alex Ferguson is monitoring Sterling, 18 next Saturday, who could be a long-term replacement for unsettled Nani.
Direct transfer activity between the two clubs has been non-existent for decades but Sterling has so far stalled on agreeing his first major contract, alerting United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

In theory it makes sense that Sir Alex Ferguson would be interested in talented youngster Raheem Sterling but there is surely no way in the world that teenager would consider making such a contentious move.
Currently Raheem Sterling is held in high regard by the Anfield faithful. They have been impressed by his mature displays and are more than aware of the England international’s potential but it’s safe to say that if the teenager made the controversial move from Liverpool to hated rivals Man United then it would probably be unsafe for the former QPR youth team player to step foot back into Merseyside.
Whilst it’s true that Sir Alex Ferguson has set his sights on youthful talent to help build for the future would he really think he could pull off such a contentious swoop?
Rodgers has shown great faith in the 17 year old, offering him a sustained run in the first team and Sterling has rewarded the Northern Irishman with a consistent level of form that has led to an England call-up.
Sterling did reveal on his Twitter account that he would sign a new Liverpool deal when he turned 18 but then, for whatever reason, deleted the tweet.
This merely led to more speculation about the starlet’s future and any move to allay such fears will be gratefully received by a Liverpool fanbase who have been mightily impressed by his early displays for the club.
Raheem Sterling has proved an unqualified success since being handed a first team run, starting 15 of the club’s 16 Premier League fixtures thus far this season.
As for Portuguese international Nani the 26 year old does now appear to be surplus to requirements at Man United, having made just four Premier League starts thus far this season, his last being in September.
