Stamford Bridge side target FC Porto forward.
Chelsea have been alerted to the availability of striker Jackson Martinez with Porto ready to cash in on the striker in the January transfer window.
The Blues are in the market for a centre forward in the new year, and could now look to move for Martinez, with sections of the Portuguese media convinced that Porto are ready to sell him.
Atletico Madrid, Fenerbache, Inter Milan and PSG are just a few of the sides who have been linked with the 26-year-old, but it’s thought he would prefer a move to the Premier League.
Porto would take a bid in the region of £20million for the Colombian striker, with the money likely to be used to re-invest in up to three players.
Well this could prove a more realistic Chelsea transfer target as repeated target Radamel Falcao’s price tag continues to soar.
Jackson Martinez, who was brought in by FC Porto to replace Zenit bound Hulk, scored nine goals in his first ten games at the Portuguese club but now appears to be available for sale by the Estadio Dragao side and £20m seems a fair price to pay in today’s transfer market.
Though Fernando Torres has started to score again, four goals in his last two matches, it seems clear that Rafa Benitez would be well advised to bring in attacking alternatives to the Spaniard and Roman Abramovich may well be happy to invest in such a move to help aid the club’s Premier League title chase.
Jackson Martinez’s physical approach could well work suit him to life in the English top tier but as well as being an aggressive forward the Colombian is also very able with the ball on the deck and may well be tempted by a move to the Champions League holders.
