Falcao Five Coruna

Stamford Bridge and Bernabeu sides battle to sign Colombian ace.

Real Madrid are plotting a staggering £45m move for Chelsea target Radamel Falcao – and the club are confident he will turn his back on Atletico Madrid to sign for their bitter rivals.

Striker Falcao is seen as the best of his kind in the world and has netted an astonishing 16 goals in 14 league games already this season – with FIVE coming in Sunday’s 6-0 win over Deportivo.

Chelsea want to sign the Colombian as doubts remain over Fernando Torres’ capability to produce his best form for a sustained period.

The rate at which Radamel Falcao is scoring goals it’s not in the least bit surprising that an increasing number of Europe’s ‘Elite’ are sitting up and taking notice. However is a move from Atletico to city rivals Real Madrid really going to be one the Colombian is willing to consider?

Falcao’s goals have led to Diego Simeone’s side mounting a very real La Liga title challenge. The Vicente Calderon side after five points clear of Jose Mourinho’s men having picked up 12 wins from their first 15 matches of the season, indeed if it wasn’t for Barcelona’s record breaking start to the season Atletico would normally be top of the pile with the outstanding series of results they have put together.

Real Madrid’s need for goal-scoring alternatives is less desperate than Chelsea’s but talk of a possible Cristiano Ronaldo exit may well fuel the need to bring in another prolific marksman.

Though Fernando Torres has hit a run of form, four goals in two games, Rafa Benitez knows all to well his side could do with fresh strikers to challenge the Spaniard’s position at the spearhead of the Blues attack.

Radamel Falcao managed an accomplished 36 goals in his first season in La Liga but has gone off like a train this season scoring 19 goals in 15 matches thus far, including a five goal haul against Deportivo La Coruna on the weekend.
