Anfield side keen on Chilean forward.
LIVERPOOL are set to launch a bid for Alexis Sanchez by scoping out the player on his home turf.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has sent scouts to Barcelona to check out the Chilean midfielder in action.
Though Liverpool are understood to be in the market for a forward, midfield is one department they need to strengthen especially as the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jonjo Shelvey need support in terms of supplying service to main talisman Luis Suarez.
Though Alexis Sanchez has struggled for form since his move to the Nou Camp and as a result never been a fixture in the Barcelona first team there is little chance that the Chilean would look to leave the Catalan club any time soon and a move to a Liverpool side that can not offer Champions League football seems far fetched.
The former Udinese man battles the likes of Pedro, Cristian Tello and David Villa for a support slot alongside Lionel Messi and the 23 year old has not been able to hit the type of form that earned him a move to the La Liga side 18 months ago.
Sanchez netted 15 goals last term but has seen an alarming drop in form during the current campaign managing just one goal in 16 appearances.
Liverpool could well do with alternative attacking options and perhaps Rodgers has plans to use Sanchez as a foil for Luis Suarez but that could well be something of an impossible dream.
