If this is accurate then it’s the type of timely news that will surely greatly please the Gunners faithful.
Having seen their side crash out of the Capital One Cup at League Two Bradford City it would appear that belief in Arsene Wenger is at an all-time low and talk of a potential sacking is certainly in the air, so what better replacement to call upon than Pep Guardiola?
The former Barcelona boss won the lot during his four year spell in charge of the Catalan giants and having spent the last six months off the 41 year old may well be itching to get back to work.
After seven years without silverware and with Arsenal moving backwards and not forwards Wenger may well be running out of time and if the Emirates Stadium side have nothing to show for their efforts at the end of 2012/13 then perhaps the veteran Frenchman will step down, an act that will become all the more likely if a top four spot is not secured.
Guardiola won three La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey triumphs and a pair of Champions League wins among a plethora of successes in his time as Barcelona boss.
