Old Trafford side to use out of favour winger sale to assist signing of instant replacement.
Manchester United will use funds generated from the sale of Nani to move for two new players in the January transfer window, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The Portuguese winger has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford following a series of bust ups with Sir Alex Ferguson – and has not started a league game since November.
The 26-year-old has refused to sign a contract extension and came close top joining Russian side Zenit St Petersburg in January before his wage demands scuppered the move.
Speculation of his imminent departure was previously drawn after he was omitted from the club’s 2013 calendar. – and this picture will only fuel the rumours.
Both Arsenal and Juventus have been linked with £20million moves for the forward whose contract expires in 2014.
United have also been keeping track of Porto winger James Rodriguez who has been dubbed ‘the new Cristiano Ronaldo’ – with the possibility of including Nani as part of the deal.

It would be a tad ironic if Man United used the fruits of a Nani sale to help fund a move for a player dubbed the ‘New Cristiano Ronaldo’ as Sir Alex Ferguson will have hoped for the Portuguese winger to have filled the void left by the sale of the prolific attacker to Real Madrid.
Nani has been treading water for the past 18 months and after one average display too many Sir Alex Ferguson has run out of patience and is not only unwilling to meet the 26 year old’s wage demands but will look to sell the Man United man in January.
He can then push on with efforts to bring in FC Porto winger James Rodriguez to fill the vacant spot. If Ferguson can somehow orchestrate a swap deal between the two clubs then clearly that would make things a whole lot easier.
Colombian youngster Rodriguez is in fine form this term and helped the Estadio Dragao side to back to back Primeira Liga titles in his first two seasons at the club.
Ferguson will have been especially pleased with the form the 21 year old has displayed in the Champions League this season.
