Martin Jol wants to bring fellow countryman to Craven Cottage.
Fulham boss Martin Jol wants to sign his old keeper Maarten Stekelenburg – and bring the Dutch international to the Premier League.
Giant Stekelenburg will jump at the chance of teaming up with former manager Jol again after the pair worked together at Ajax in Holland.
Stekelenburg has lost his place in the Roma side in Serie A this season and would welcome the chance of first-team football at Craven Cottage – with a bargain deal on the cards.
The 6ft 5in shot-stopper needs to play to keep his place in the Dutch international side and is willing to come and challenge Mark Schwarzer for the jersey at Fulham.

Clearly Fulham have had good success with Dutch custodians in the past, namely Edwin van der Sar, and given that first choice Craven Cottage keeper Mark Scwarzer, at 40, is no spring chicken and even in goalkeeping terms does not have that many years in the tank it makes good sense to eye up a new option between the sticks.
Maarten Stekelenburg has been linked with interest from a number of Premier League sides in the past and may be interested in a move to the Premier League.
Given that the former Ajax man has lost his Roma first team spot to Mauro Goicoechea a move to Fulham could be all the more plausible.
Fulham have conceded a whopping 27 goals in 16 Premier League matches this season so there is perhaps a very real need to consider a move for the 30 year old Holland international.
