Fulham to Lodge January Bid to Sign Liverpool Midfielder

Craven Cottage side try again with move for Anfield youngster.

Fulham are preparing to make another move to sign Jordan Henderson in January after failing to land him in the summer, understands.

The Liverpool midfielder has only been on the fringes of Brendan Rodgers’ team since the Northern Irishman took charge.

Fulham were offered Henderson in part-exchange for Clint Dempsey during the summer but the England international rejected the move and decided to fight for his place at Anfield.

Fulham are ready to test Liverpool’s resolve, and Henderson’s desire to play regular first-team football, in the forthcoming window.

Martin Jol wants to add greater youth and dynamism to a midfield that was decimated by the departures of Mousa Dembele, Clint Dempsey, Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu in the summer.

Whilst Jordan Henderson has improved a tad of late and perhaps done a little to improve his reputation there is surely little doubt that Liverpool’s £16m purchase of the former Sunderland man has been something of a disaster and as such any decent offer from Fulham could be accepted by Brendan Rodgers.

The Anfield boss is keen to put his own stamp on the Liverpool squad he inherited and clearly the Northern Irishman has no qualms about dropping or offloading the expensive mistakes Kenny Dalglish made during his reign as boss.

Andy Carroll was shipped out on loan and Stewart Downing has barely seen action and the action he has seen in the first team has come in unaccustomed role at left-back. Therefore Henderson may well be very dispensable.

Rodgers has handed the 22 year old just two Premier League starts this season so an offer of around, or even above, half that Liverpool forked out 18 months ago could well be taken gladly with both hands.
