Old Trafford side lead the chase to snap up Hamburg teenager.
Manchester United have reportedly made their move for highly-rated Hamburg defender Jonathan Tah.
United have been tracking the 16-year-old centre-back for months, but after he dallied over signing a new contract with Hamburg, Sir Alex Ferguson has made his move.
Sir Alex Ferguson has ‘upped his game’ when it comes to the club’s youthful transfer policy, bringing in the likes of Phil Jones, David de Gea, Nick Powell and Angelo Henriquez in recent seasons, and it appears that that Man United boss is looking to further strengthen his defence in the long term with a move for the talented German Under 17 international.
Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also keeping an eye on the Hamburg teenager, who can apparently be picked up for as little as a £300k compensation fee, despite having two years left on his current contract.
Man United have of course seen their defence leak goals with alarming regularity this season and with Rio Ferdinand in the autumn of his career and Nemanja Vidic perennially out injured there is certainly scope for bringing in young talents who two or three years down the line can help push for a starting berth in the Old Trafford defence.
