Anfield midfielder to return to Ligue 1?
LIVERPOOL midfielder Joe Cole could be on his way back to parent club Lille in January.
This is in light of the fact manager Brendan Rodgers has been unable to reassure him that he has a long-term future at Anfield.
Cole joined Liverpool from Chelsea on a free in July 2010, but has struggled to hold down a place in the first team.
Not quite sure how Lille are Joe Cole’s ‘parent’ club but is there really any chance that Liverpool could consider sending the England man back to the Ligue 1 side in January?
Given that the 31 year old has finally started to deliver on a relatively consistent basis it would be odd if Brendan Rodgers decided that next month he would allow the former West Ham and Chelsea man to leave.
Cole has scored twice in his past three appearances and has certainly corrected a season that started with injury heartbreak just nine minutes after coming on as sub in the opening fixture at West Brom.
The attack minded midfielder has done well to battle back into the Liverpool first team picture and as such will surely not look to leave for Lille in January.
Joe Cole did do well whilst at the Stade Gerland, scoring nine goals in 42 appearances during his season long loan spell at Lille. Rudi Garcia could well be keen to see the Londoner return, especially as a number of his top talents, Eden Hazard being the most prominent, have left the club floundering in mid-table.
