Former Toffees star linked with interest from the Stadium of Light and Loftus Road.
Sunderland and QPR are among the clubs showing interest in New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill.
The Australian, 33, is ready to return to England on a two-month loan and had been hopeful of joining former club Everton.

Tim Cahill is obviously a player who has proved himself at Premier League level and as has become commonplace, is now being linked with a seasonal return to the English top flight.
The adaptable attacker, who can play in the midfield or up front, could well make a much needed impact at both QPR and Sunderland, who could both do with a goal-scoring presence to boost their respective ailing attacks.
Harry Redknapp’s need is certainly more urgent with the Super Hoops boss still chasing for the club’s first win of the season and having netted just 13 goals in 16 matches it’s clear that an injection of attacking quality is needed.
Tim Cahill scored 68 goals in 278 appearances for Everton over the course of his eight season stay at Goodison Park.
