Demba Ba Arsenal

Emirates Stadium side make big step towards capturing proven finisher.

Demba Ba has opened the door to a move to Arsenal by admitting they are a club that ‘makes you dream’.

The Newcastle striker is enjoying a stellar season at St James’ Park, bagging 11 goals in the Premier League.

The Senegal international’s words on Sunday evening will worry those in the corridors of power at St James’.

While claiming that he had no knowledge of concrete interest from Arsenal, Ba suggested he could be the man to strengthen Arsene Wenger’s leading line.

He told Canal+: ‘I have nothing to say about those speculations [with Arsenal]. Nothing has happened.

‘The media know Arsenal need another striker and they know about my release clause. They need to make their own mind up about it.

‘Arsenal are one of those teams who makes you dream.’

Well this isn’t very subtle is it.

Arsene Wenger does indeed alternative striking options but it’s a little cheeky of Demba Ba to make this point so publicly and but his insistence on talking of interest in his services from the North London club may well push the Gunners in action.

The Arsenal board are said to be making decent sums available for January additions and Ba is a proven Premier League finisher and a player who at £7.5m is a potential bargain buy.

Ba has netted 11 Premier League goals this season and scored 16 last term, despite playing for half the season in a support role with countryman Papiss Cisse.

Arsenal are currently heavily reliant on Oliver Giroud, who though improved has managed just four Premier League goals in 16 appearances.

Back-up options such as Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh have failed to impress and Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott are now predominantly being used in wide attacking roles.
