Loftus Road and Upton Park sides keen on former Chelsea forward.
Queens Park Rangers and West Ham are waiting to speak to Nicola Anelka as he seeks to cancel his contract with Shanghai Shenhua.
The Chinese club confirmed today that negotiations are underway with the Frenchman keen to return to England.
Anelka, 33, joined Shanghai from Chelsea in the last January transfer window but has struggled to settle despite even enduring a spell as caretaker coach.

It’s safe to say that former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka’s foray into football in the Far East hasn’t really gone all that well. The veteran forward now want to leave Shanghai and is apparently willing to sacrifice final year of his contract, reputedly worth around £7million, on the proviso that he is handed a free transfer.
Anelka has saved the best form of his career to the English top tier, scoring regularly for Arsenal, Man City, Bolton and Chelsea and a move back to London may well tempt the experienced marksman.
QPR’s need would appear to be far more urgent than West Ham’s though clearly Sam Allardyce has seen loaned in striker Andy Carroll suffer a lengthy injury setback.
Anelka’s spell in China been something of a set-back to the usually consistent forward’s career, managing just three goals in 24 appearances for Shanghai Shenhua, whilst Didier Drogba has racked up eight goals in just 11 matches for the Chinese Super League side.
