Emirates Stadium & White Hart Lane sides keen on Ajax defender.
ARSENAL and Tottenham are both lining up a move for highly-rated Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld in January.
Alderweireld has become an integral part of the spine of the Ajax team since moving to the Eredivisie outfit in 2010.
The Belgian international has enjoyed his time at Ajax, but he has entertained the idea of a move to England.
Spurs could be a real possibility as it would give him a chance to reunite with former team-mate Jan Vertonghen, whom he lifted the Eredivisie title with last season before he left for White Hart Lane in the summer.
Both North London sides appear very keen to land the adaptable Ajax defender and having seen a number of his team-mates leave the Eredivisie side the Belgian international may feel it’s time to move on.
Alderweireld may be drawn to moves to either Arsenal or Tottenham as both sides have former team-mates plying their trade with their respective defences.
Thomas Vermaelen and Jan Vertonghen both play alongside the 23 year old at international level and the intelligent defender could well be of use at both the Emirates Stadium and White Hart Lane and he would be the latest in the long line of Belgians making an impact in then English top tier.
Alderweireld can play at either centre or right back and having won back to back domestic titles he may feel he has achieved as much as he can with his Amsterdam side and having been knocked out of the Champions League a move in January is a distinct possibility.
