Etihad Stadium side to make mammoth Bernabeu raid.
MANCHESTER CITY look set to send shockwaves through Europe this winter by launching a double bid for Real Madrid pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Fabio Coentrao.
Coentrao has become a mainstay of the Real first team and his compatriot Ronaldo is being courted by affluent French side PSG.
Moreover, with the future of Jose Mourinho still uncertain, City want to capitalise and strike while the iron is hot.
And money appears to be object, as they are bankrolled by their super rich owner Sheikh Mansour.
According to Portuguese paper O Jogo, City are prepared to offer £134m for the pair.
Well this seems highly unlikely.
Whilst it may well be true that Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t entirely happy at the the Bernabeu, which is hardly a surprise given that Real Madrid are likely to lose their La Liga crown to arch-rivals Barcelona. However if the former Man United man really going to consider a move to their local rivals Man City? Surely not.
Ronaldo has been hugely effective this season, regardless of Real Madrid’s third place spot in La Liga, but Real Madrid would surely not consider any offer for such a crucial player regardless of the offer on the table.
Roberto Mancini is no stranger to spending big but over the summer Man City’s splashing of the cash was a little reserved, but their own standards at least, with Benfica midfielder Javi Garcia being the club’s biggest addition.
Fabio Coentrao on the other hand could well be considering his future having become something of a back-up option at Real Madrid though Man City do have a fair few effective left-backs with Gael Clichy edging out Aleksandr Kolarov fairly frequently.
The Portuguese international could feel he could unseat the French international and could be ready for a new challenge.
Mancini would clearly like to spend big but Man City’s owners may demand that the Italian sells before he buys given the size of his ever expanding Etihad Stadium squad.
