If Andre Villas-Boas does pursue the 25 year old Real Madrid he will probably have to fork out the £16.3m needed to trigger the Spaniard’s release clause.
The former Espanyol man has played only a bit-part role at the Bernabeu since his move to the La Liga giants in July 2011. The adaptable attacker has however impressed during his cameo roles in Jose Mourinho’s first team but could well feel that it’s time to leave in order to secure regular first team football.
Tottenham could well feel the could use further creative talents up front and Villas-Boas will certainly be enticed by Callejon’s ability to make an effective contribution from both a wide attacking role as well as in an orthodox striking role.
Last term Callejon netted 15 goals for Real Madrid, albeit only five coming in La Liga, and has scored five thus far this season.
Though Callejon’s release clause is set at £16.3m Jose Mourinho may be open to selling the back-up forward for a lesser fee if indeed the player himself pushes for an exit from the club he represented from the age of 15 up until he left for Espanyol as a 21 year old back in 2008.
