Liverpool fans will be glad to hear this news. There had been a fair bit of speculation about the future of teenager Raheem Sterling after a successful period following his breaking into the Anfield first team led to a great deal of interest in the young wide-man.
Sterling has taken his chance in Brendan Rodgers’s Liverpool set-up with both hands, making himself indispensable and displaying consistent form that led to an England call-up.
The 18 year old has started 16 of the club’s 17 Premier League matches and has become a pivotal member of Liverpool’s attack and a rare bright spot in a rather shaky start to the club’s season.
With prospective suitors said to be taking an interest in Sterling the fact that he is to sign a new long term deal will help to ward off moves to sign the starlet, who appears to be very happy at Liverpool.
Sterling moved to Liverpool in 2010 from QPR.
