St James’ Park side line up Marseille striker bid.
NEWCASTLE could snap up Loic Remy in January.
Marseille forward Remy had been courted by Spurs in the summer and was close to signing for the north London outfit before the deal collapsed.
The Magpies have a strong French influence, which is believed to be attractive to Remy.
He said: “They are a very good team.
“They are a big club with good players, very good fans and a nice stadium that is always full.”
Any move for Marseille forward Loic Remy clearly depends greatly on whether Newcastle United manage to keep hold of Senegal international Demba Ba but if Alan Pardew fails to prevent the former West Ham man from leaving then a deal to bring in the French international would be a wise one to pursue.
The 25 year old finished as the top scorer at the Stade Velodrome in both the past two seasons but has struggled to retain a spot in new boss Elie Baup’s starting eleven and the fact that OM are challenging for the Ligue 1 title would suggest that this decision has worked well for Marseille.
Remy is therefore likely to be interested in a move to the Premier League, seeing such a switch as a good way to re-ignite his career.
The former Nice forward scored 37 goals in the last two seasons but has scored just twice this year as Andre Pierre-Gignac more often than not gets the nod as Marseille’s starting forward.
