Madejski Stadium side keen on Anfield and White Hart Lane bit-part players.
Reading manager Brian McDermott is ready to send an SOS to Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone.
England ace Huddlestone is one of three experienced Premier League players McDermott wants to sign in the transfer window to spearhead a miracle relegation escape.
The Royals boss believes he can land Huddlestone on loan while Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson and Liverpool’s Joe Cole are also on his radar.
McDermott said: “I feel strongly we need to sign two or three players with Premier League experience, who know what it is like to play in this league.
“January is a hard window but we have been planning for some time and will make some signings.”

Having slumped to a run of seven straight defeats Reading may struggle to pull themselves out of the nosedive they are in the middle or and Brian McDermott is right to look to bring in new additions in the January transfer window.
Bringing in experienced Premier League pros is probably the right way to go and targeting players who have a point to prove and are desperate for regular first team action should also help the Royals boss to get the most out of any prospective January purchase.
Joe Cole has had more of a look-in at Liverpool in recent weeks but is still yet to start a Premier League match this season. The former West Ham and Chelsea man has netted twice in his last four games but is still some way down Brendan Rodgers’ pecking order.
Tom Huddlestone has had a raft of injury issues in recent seasons and has fallen behind Moussa Dembele and Sandro in Tottenham’s midfield battle and with Scott Parker’s returning to full fitness the 25 year old former England man may be ready to consider a possible White Hart Lane departure.
The former Derby County man has made just six Premier League starts thus far this season.
