Craven Cottage line up Villa Park forward swoop.
Darren Bent is expected to be fit to make a move from Aston Villa in the January transfer window – with Fulham favourites to sign the England striker writes the Sunday People.
Bent, 28 injured his hamstring on a rare outing in the Capital One Cup quarter-final at Norwich earlier this month. But he is due to return to full fitness by mid-January and Villa remain open to offers.
Fulham boss Martin Jol could meet Villa’s £8million asking price, though Bent might have to take a minor cut to his £65,000-a-week Villa wages to move to Craven Cottage.

Darren Bent’s future at Aston Villa is tenuous at best and even if he were not currently sidelined it’s very likely he would still not be part of Paul Lambert’s starting line-up plans, after all even when fully fit the 28 year old was lucky to even get a seat on the Villa Park bench.
Whilst it’s true that new signing Christian Benteke has done well since his summer move from Belgium it is also odd to hear Lambert state that Bent is part of his plans when he then proceeds to only occasionally use the England international, this despite the fact that Aston Villa are very much in a relegation dogfight following two embarrassing defeats over the Xmas period.
Bent has started just six of the club’s 19 Premier League fixtures, the last of which came two months ago.
Though Fulham have not struggled for goals Martin Jol may be keen to team up Bent with another of his former Tottenham charges, Dimitar Berbatov, and an £8m offer may just do the trick.
