Latics set sights on Elland Road forward.
Wigan will try to keep Di Santo but may be fighting a losing battle.
Meanwhile Wigan are plotting a £4million bid for Leeds striker Luciano Becchio.
Roberto Martinez wants to sign the Argentinian, who has 17 goals this season, to boost Wigan’s chances of Premier League survival.

Argentine Luciano Becchio is something of a cult hero with the Elland Road faithful but Leeds United may struggle to keep hold of the in-form striker if Wigan do indeed choose to make a January move for the former Boca Juniors youth team player.
Roberto Martinez may well feel the need to beef up his Latics attack regardless of whether Franco Di Santo leaves the club, the DW Stadium side have struggled in front of goal this season netting just 19 goals in 19 Premier League matches thus far this season.
The situation will be exacerbated by Arouna Kone’s likely involvement in the African Nations Cup and this could futher spur Wigan into action.
Becchio has been a consistent attacking weapon during his five seasons at Leeds United, scoring 84 goals in 217 appearances since his move to the club in the summer of 2008.
The Leeds United man may feel that he is unlikely to fulfill his Premier League ambitions unless he pursues a move away from the Yorkshire side and could feel Wigan a good place to showcase his talents.
