Emirates Stadium side set to ring the changes in next month’s transfer window.
According to the Daily Mirror Arsenal are set for a very busy time of it in the transfer window with four players set to be offloaded as Arsene Wenger makes way for four new additions he hopes can help end the club’s lengthy lean spell.
Nani (Man United)
Arsene Wenger has apparently set his sights on Man United winger Nani after finally realising that Theo Walcott deserves a spot as the club’s leading striker. This decision seemingly leaving the Gunners boss with a wide attacking area to fill, hence the link with the out of favour Old Trafford man.
The Portuguese international has started just four Premier League matches this season the last of which coming in September so there may well be scope for Sir Alex Ferguson looking to offload the tricky winger.
However one wonders just how much the Scot would want from such a sale. Clearly Nani, though not part of Ferguson’s plan, is still a quality player who at 26 years of age still has a lot to offer.
One also wonders if Arsenal would be willing to meet the player’s reported wage demands, which apparently scared off Russian big spenders Zenit.
Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)
The Daily Mirror also believe that Arsenal will push to complete a deal to sign highly rated Eagles attacker Zaha, who is perhaps a more likely Emirates Stadium target.
The 20 year old has been excellent over the past 18 months and would certainly jump at the chance of a move to Arsenal. Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway may struggle to keep hold of the young England man but could insist that any January sale would include a loan back option for the remainder of the current campaign with the South London side well placed for a push to achieve Premier League promotion.
