White Hart Lane side in battle for Roma forward.
Serie A high-flyers Fiorentina are ready to battle with Juventus and Spurs for Roma hitman Pablo Daniel Osvaldo.
The Argentina-born striker, who has been capped six times by Italy, was on Spurs’ radar during the summer but ended up staying in the Italian capital.
Fiorentina have enjoyed a strong start to the season and want to add more firepower next month as they look to sustain their challenge for a Champions League place.
It’s not immediately obvious as to why any of this trio of sides would believe they could lure Roma forward Pablo Osvaldo from the Stadio Olimpico in January. Zdenek Zeman’s were on a great run of form before the winter break, collecting five wins in six matches and the Italian international striker seems very happy with life at the club right now.
Argentine born Osvaldo first moved to Italy back in 2006 and has since represented Atalanta, Lecce, Fiorentina and Bologna before a successful spell in Spain with Espanyol which then led to a £14m move to Roma 18 months ago.
In his first season at Roma he scored 11 goals and finished as the club’s top scorer and already has nine to his name during the current campaign.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has started to use Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor as a strike pairing having initially opted to use the England international in a lone role. However the White hart Lane boss may feel the need to add further options to his armoury, hence there reported interest in Osvaldo.
If the 26 year old were to leave Roma perhaps a move to Serie A title holders Juventus is most likely.
