Diego Simeone insists Arda Turan is going nowhere
TalkSPORT are reporting that Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has rejected any ideas of Turkish midfielder Arda Turan leaving the club this January.
Turan is an integral part of the Atletico Madrid side that has out-performed city neighbours and bitter rivals Real Madrid. They currently sit second in the La Liga, seven points clear of Mourinho’s men but nine behind leaders Barcelona.
Atletico boss Simeone, who was famously involved in the incident with David Beckham that saw the former England number seven sent off in the 1998 World Cup, will not have endeared himself to fan of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal who were rumoured to be ready to make a move for the former Galatasaray star.
Reports in Spain that the winger had agreed terms with Arsenal have proven to be premature with Simeone bluntly telling reporters ‘Arda isn’t going, definitely. He has a contract with the club, he’s ours, he’s an extremely important player for the squad and he demonstrates it when he has to’.
