Stamford Bridge ready to offer German to help sign another.
Loan arrangers: Chelsea hope giving Marin to Leverkusen will help land Schurrle
After trying and failing with two bids for the Germany striker, Blues hatch a cunning plan to get them in his club’s good books
Chelsea are ready to hand German flop Marko Marin to Bayer Leverkusen – as a ‘sweetener’ before bidding for their star man Andre Schurrle in the summer.
Marin has failed to impress since joining the Blues from Werder Bremen last summer and will jump at a return to the Bundesliga so he can start playing regularly again.
The Stamford Bridge outfit are encouraging Leverkusen’s interest in Marin, as they would like to finally land German international Schurrle at the end of this campaign.
Schurrle was a Chelsea target in the summer and a more recent inquiry was also rebuffed by Leverkusen, who are chasing a Champions League place.
However, ther Germans will be powerless regarding Schurrle’s future come the summer, when his ‘fixed price’ clause of around £25million kicks in.

This could well be a sensible plan of action.
Chelsea failed with two bids to sign the highly rated German youngster in the summer and have been given a firm ‘hands off’ warning with regards to a January bid for the 22 year old, therefore the option to send Marko Marin to Bayer Leverkusen in lieu of a summer move for Andre Schurrle is a cunning plan that may well do the trick.
Schurrle has been in fine form this term, helping the BayArena side to a ‘best of the rest’ spot behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich, and may well be ready to consider a future away from the Bundesliga and the chance to move to Stamford Bridge may well tempt the former Mainz man into a Premier League switch.
Andre Schurrle had an average first season at Bayer Leverkusen last term but has matured into a far more effective performer over the past six months and has impressed on a number of occasions this term, reportedly wowing watching Blues scouts, and is a player that Sami Hyypia may struggle to keep hold of this summer.
With a release clause hanging over his head it seems entirely likely that Chelsea will look to bring in the German international forward to help boost the club’s attack whilst also adhering to their new youthful transfer policy.
Schurrle can play across the attack and has been very impressive when on national team duty.
