Theo Walcott’s representatives are set to conclude talks with the striker staying at Arsenal
Theo Walcott has moved a step closer to signing a new deal at Arsenal, according to Sky Sports News.
The England international’s representatives are set to meet the Arsenal hierarchy today in a bid to end protracted speculation. With his contract expiring this season, Walcott’s sterling performances have merited an agreement with the Gunners opening up to the striker’s demands.
The 23 year old has now scored 14 goals this season. Having completed a hat-trick against Newcastle and contributing to the Gunners 1-1 draw at Southampton, the striker’s confirmed his desire to stay.
Walcott told The Sun: “I’m sure that something will be sorted very soon.
“I’ve always said I wanted to stay and I enjoy playing for this team. Now we will just see what happens.
“I will continue to play my football and let the people who look after me and the club talk to each other and go from there.”
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made his feelings towards the striker’s future clear, he said: “My desire is to extend his contract. He belongs here and hopefully we can do it.”
