St James’ Park side keen on Upton Park forward.
WEST HAM seem willing to let misfit striker Modibo Maiga quit for Newcastle.
Toon boss Alan Pardew missed out on the Mali international, 25, last year after the player failed a medical.
And Maiga is on Pards’ shortlist if his bid for Marseille’s Loic Remy fails.
A Hammers source said: “We’ll listen to offers for Modibo.”

With Demba Ba set to complete his move to Chelsea Alan Pardew certainly needs to consider ways to replace the prolific Senegal international and if the Magpies boss feels that West Ham forward Modibo Maiga is the man for the job there seems a decent chance the Hammers would consider playing ball.
The Upton Park side spent £4.7m to bring the 26 year old to East London following an impressive season with Sochaux but hasn’t really been given a chance to make an impact at the club.
Maiga has been handed just two Premier League starts and has made a habit of coming on as a sub, doing so on 14 occasions. The Mali international will be away on African Nations Cup duty this month and could therefore be less of a viable option.
The powerful forward has netted four times thus far this season in all competition, including a goal against Chelsea.
