Having lost the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole, who left for West Ham today, Harry Redknapp is keen to successfully lure this pair of Premier League talents who could greatly aid their push to avoid the drop.
Mohamed Diame has been in fine form this season and is said to be available for as little as £3.5m due to a low release clause set into his the Senegal international’s contract. The battling midfielder moved to Upton Park on a free transfer having left Wigan Athletic when his Latics contract expired last summer.
Tottenham may well be able to persuade Andre Villas-Boas to sell 23 year old midfielder Jake Livermore as he doesn’t appear to be part of the Portuguese boss’s plans. The former MK Dons trainee has made just three Premier League starts this season but did win a first senior England cap in August.
Harry Redknapp has already strengthened his defence by signing former Bolton and Chelsea man Tal Ben Haim on a short-term deal.
