The agent of Palermo star dismisses exit talk
The agent of Palermo playmaker Josip Ilicic has rubbished suggestions that his client is about to make a move to Anfield, according to Sky Sports.
The Slovenian international has been in scintillating form since joining the Sicilian side in 2010, and Liverpool had been rumoured to ready to make the technically gifted midfielder part of their squad.
This was swiftly batted down by the player’s agent, Amir Ruznic, who told Ekipa in no uncertain terms that there was no substance to the story.
Liverpool could certainly do with an injection of creativity into their midfield and the slick passing Slovenian appears to be a ready fit for the style of football Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking for his team to play.
The former NK Maribor player narrowly missed out on Slovenia’s squad for the 2010 World Cup but has since become an integral part of his national side.
But following the signing of Daniel Sturridge, and the rumoured arrival of Tom Ince, it appears Liverpool are unlikely to make too many more ventures into the transfer market this January.
The Anfield side currently lie in 8th, 5 points off city-rivals Everton who sit in the 5th place spot that would provide Europa League football next season.
