Former Chelsea striker set to end spell in China.
Just six months after leaving Chelsea on a free transfer to head to China, striker Didier Drogba is set to return to Europe with Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus vying for his signature, according to his agents.
Despite helping Chelsea to win the Champions League last season, Drogba left Stamford Bridge during the summer following the completion of his contract as he joined Chinese Super League Shanghai Shenhua on a free transfer.
But the 34-year-old Ivory Coast international’s representatives have told the Italian media that Drogba is ready to leave China after just six months and instead continue his career in Serie A with both AC Milan, who are looking for a striker following the sale of Pato to Corinthians, and Juventus in talks to sign him.
“Didier has a termination agreement with the Chinese club and I think he has a lot of possibilities to arrive in Italy in January,” his agent Carlos Arino Bajo told tuttomercatoweb.com in Italy. “There is real interest from Juventus and AC Milan, and it is the same from Didier regarding the transfer.
“There have been contacts with both clubs and next week we will hear from them again. He would love to compete in one of the world’s best leagues, such as the Italian Serie A.”
Drogba, who won 10 major trophies during eight seasons at Chelsea, has proved his talent remains high during his time with Shanghai Shenhua, netting eight goals in 11 games.
