Strikers won’t be joining Juventus.
Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is not on the way to Juventus and transfer target Fernando Llorente is expected to opt for Arsenal and Tottenham rather than move to Italy, coach Antonio Conte has revealed.
Speaking to news agency ANSA, Conte denied that Juventus are in the running to sign Drogba from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua despite 34-year-old’s representatives stating on Saturday that both Juventus and AC Milan had opened discussions regarding signing him during the transfer window.
“I’ve never asked the club to sign Drogba and they haven’t proposed him to me either,” Conte told ANSA news agency when asked about signing the Ivory Coast international, who left Chelsea on a free transfer in the summer after winning the Champions League.
Athletic Bilbao striker Llorente, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is reportedly being chased by Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham as well as Juventus. But Conte ruled his club out of the running to sign the Spanish international leaving a straight fight between the north London rivals.
“I’m delighted he is considering Juventus because it shows we can attract big name players again. But I would be surprised to see him in Turin in January,” Conte said.
