Emirates Stadium side line up bid for adaptable South American.
Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign Napoli wing-back Juan Zuniga according to Italian source TuttoMercato. The 27 year old has been scouted by Arsene Wenger’s Italian based network and by all accounts an offer may soon be made by the North London side.
The Colombian international is perhaps very much a ‘Wenger-Style’ signing in so much as he is targeting a relative unknown who is comfortable on the ball and able to play in multiple positions. Also, he won’t cost the earth. All in all very much the usual attributes one associates with players on the Gunners radar.
Zuniga joined Napoli from Serie A minnows Siena in 2009 and has established himself as one of the club’s pivotal players over the past 18 months.
The versatile star can play anywhere across the midfield playing on the left in a wing-back role, where he may be seen as a more viable option than off-form Brazilian Andre Santos.
Zuniga may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League side though Napoli’s form of late, Walter Mazzarri’s side sitting in third spot in Serie A, may lead the adaptable talent to consider remaining at the San Paolo.
