Everton defender Sylvain Distin is QPR manager Harry Redknapp’s number one target as he looks to sign an experience centre-back to help get the club out of relegation danger.

The 35-year-old has just six months of his contract to run at Goodison Park and has not been offered new terms yet, prompting Redknapp to offer Distin a two-year deal should he make the move to London, according to Goal.
Distin, formerly with Newcastle United and Manchester City, is a player known to Redknapp having played under him at Portsmouth. And having failed with proposed moves for Tottenham’s Michael Dawson and Manchester City’s Joleon Lescott, who was the subject of £8million interest last week, he has put Distin at the top of his wanted list.
Distin has spent the season in and out of the Everton defence and his failure to hold down a regular place with be made even more difficult by the likely arrival of Norwegian defender Vegard Forren .
A centre-back is one of Redknapp’s priorities with Ryan Nelson, who has been a first choice since the arrival of the new manager at Loftus Road, mulling over a move to the MLS where he would be begin a coaching career while finishing his playing days.
QPR have also been linked with £10million French international striker Loic Remy, who is available from Marseille during the transfer window. They face competition, however, from Newcastle for his signature as the Magpies look to replace Demba Ba who joined Chelsea last week.
