Sir Alex Ferguson ready to offer Bernabeu flop Old Trafford rescue offer.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s lengthy search for fresh midfield talent has led the Scot to the Bernabeu and a renewed effort to land long term target Luka Modric.
The Old Trafford boss was strongly linked with interest in the Croatian international, running Real Madrid close for the attentions of the Tottenham midfielder last summer, and now with the schemer struggling to secure regular first team football at the Bernabeu the Man United manager is readying a summer move for the 27 year old.
Modric was rather unkindly voted as the worst signing of La Liga in 2012 by Spanish newspaper Marca and the talented playmaker may well be considering his options having failed to unseat Mesut Ozil to land the attacking midfield slot in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven.
Real Madrid paid Tottenham £33m to land Modric in the summer but have thus far handed Modric 13 starts from the club’s 29 games in all competitions this season.
Ferguson has been linked with a number of creative midfield targets including most prominently Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder and Ajax youngsters Christian Eriksen and Victor Fischer.
Man United are reportedly considering making an offer in the region of £25m for the Real Madrid man as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to freshen up his midfield. Such a move may become all the more relevant if veterans Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs elect to retire at the end of the season.
