Top talents plying their trade on the continent but could be heading for the English top tier.
1. David Villa
One of the most talked about names of the January transfer window, Barcelona striker David Villa was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal as well as Swansea City. Although Barcelona have denied they are ready to sell the Spanish international, there are three weeks left in which Villa could yet arrive in the Premier League.
2. Luka Modric
He only left the Premier League behind in the summer when making a £33million switch to Real Madrid from Tottenham, but, after being voted the worst La Liga signing, Luka Modric has been linked with a return to England. Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been put on alert as a result.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo
An unlikely deal January, but don’t rule out former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo returning to the Premier League in the summer. He has hinted at leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season with a return to Old Trafford or a switch to big-spending Paris Saint-Germain in France his only likely options.
4. Radamel Falcao
One of the most talked about strikers in world football, Atletico Madrid’s Colombian goalscoring machine is expected to head to the Premier League before long – although it is unlikely to happen in January. Rumours that Chelsea will be the destination continue, but don’t rule out Manchester City.
5. Leandro Damiao
The Brazilian star is on Tottenham’s wanted list with a £15million plus Huerelho Gomes deal in place to sign him from Internacional as a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor and he looks destined to be pulling on a white shirt.
