Emirates Stadium forward puts pen to paper on a new deal.
Theo Walcott has finally committed his future to Arsenal after agreeing terms on a new four-and-a-half-year contract, Goal.com can reveal.
Walcott and his representatives held a final round of talks, which included manager Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis, at the club’s London Colney training base on Wednesday, where the 23-year-old accepted the offer of a £30,000-a-week pay rise.
This news will greatly please Arsenal supporters and Arsene Wenger alike.
It seems that Theo Walcott’s form this term has earned him a deal near to his initial financial demand. The 23 year old England man has been in talks to sign a new contract for the best part of six months but after a great deal of wrangling the North London club have come up with an offer that was too good to refuse.
Arsene Wenger has recently relented to Walcott’s demand for a striking role and will surely have been impressed with the displays the former Southampton man has put in, impressed enough to order Arsenal’s money men to get as close to the player’s reported £100k a week wage demands.
In order to avoid having to shake-up the club’s wage structure they have handed Walcott a £90k a week deal beefed up with a multi million pound signing-on bonus.
Walcott is the club’s top scorer this term with 14 goals in all competitions.
