Stamford Bridge side to snap up Goodison Park star?
Highly respected French source L’Equipe claim today that Chelsea will complete a deal to sign Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini before the end of the week.
The 25 year old Toffees star has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and is seen by some as a goal-scoring midfielder who can able replace veteran Frank Lampard, who appears to be set to leave the West London club in the summer when his contract comes to a close.
There is speculation that Fellaini has a £22m release clause and knowledge of that may well have hastened Chelsea’s interest to sign the former Standard Liege man.
Fellaini is into his fifth season on Merseyside since his £15m move to Everton from his native Belgium. This term is perhaps the powerful midfielder’s most successful to date, with the 6ft 4in attacker netting nine goals thus far this term to help David Moyes’s side mount a genuine challenge to secure a Champions League berth.
Marouane Fellaini has made a total of 155 appearances for Everton, scoring 29 goals in the process.
