Emirates Stadium side keen on Dutch international.
Arsene Wenger has reportedly earmarked a January move for AC Milan utility man Urby Emanuelson as he looks to strengthen his Arsenal squad this month.
The Gunners boss has been scouting the Dutch international this season and is ready to make an offer for the former Ajax man, who is something of a bit-part player at the San Siro.
The 26 year old has started just eight of the club’s 19 Serie A matches this season and could be tempted by a move to the Premier League side.
Emanuelson moved to the San Siro in January 2011 but has never managed to retain a lengthy foothold in Massimiliano Allegri’s starting eleven. Silvio Berlusconi’s cost-cutting drive saw the Rossoneri selling Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic last summer so a decent offer for the Amsterdam born talent could be accepted.
AC Milan have already offloaded Alexandre Pato in the January transfer window and Robinho could well be on his way back to Brazil.
As with many products of the Ajax youth academy, Emanuelson is comfortable on the ball and the adaptable talent is said to have been on Arsene Wenger’s radar for many years and now the Arsenal boss is seeking to land the long term target.
Urby Emanuelson can play in a variety of positions including both at left back and further up on the left flank and is also an effective central midfielder as well as something of a set-piece specialist.
Emanuelson racked up 240 appearances for Ajax before his move to Italy and has collected 16 national team caps and has been a regular during Louis van Gaal’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
Wenger’s interest in Emanuelson may well have been heightened by the poor form displayed by Brazilian Andre Santos, who could well be made available to interested bidders.
