Brazilian will not be arriving at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have missed out on the signing of Brazilian Taison after Shaktar Donetsk swooped to capture the midfielder from Ukrainian rivals Metalist Kharkov.
Taison was expected to be named as a transfer window signing after it was revealed that Chelsea owner Roman Abrahmovich had struck an £8.5million deal with Taison’s club Metalist Kharkov of a transfer.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder was then expected to fly into London for talks over contract terms and to complete a medical before being officially named as a Chelsea player.
But Shaktar Donetsk have scuppered Chelsea’s deal after “taking advantage” of a £12.4million release clause in Taison’s contract, and he has been confirmed as a new signing for the Ukrainian champions.

Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for midfielder Frank Lampard, who is set to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after not being offered a new contract. They have also been linked with a move for Malaga midfielder Isco during the January transfer window.
Chelsea’s only transfer activity in this window has been the £7.5million capture of Demba Ba from Newcastle to provide competition for Fernando Torres in attack.
