Tottenham are in talks over a £15million swoop for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo.

The Spanish club’s president Jose Maria del Nido flew into London, via Madrid, on Thursday to discuss a potential deal for the Spain forward with Spurs officials.

If Andre Villas-Boas is indeed looking to fork out £15m to sign Spanish international Negredo then one does wonder where that would leave summer signing Emmanuel Adebayor.

The Togo international was barely involved in first team affairs for the first couple of months following his permanent switch to White Hart Lane but has more recently been paired up with Jermain Defoe. If Villas-Boas wants to sign Sevilla forward Negredo then Adebayor may see his chances once again limited.

27 year old Negredo is in fine form, netting 11 goals in 12 appearances this season. The former Almeria man has been a big success at Sevilla, scoring 52 goals in 112 la Liga matches for the Andalusian side.

The one time Real Madrid man has a decent record at international level with six goals garnered from his 12 appearances for Vicente del Bosque’s side.
