Nou Camp side take interest in Old Trafford keeper.
According to Italian source TuttoMercato Barcelona are eyeing up a move for Man United keeper David de Gea.
There has been a great deal of speculation, seemingly lacking any foundation, that Sir Alex Ferguson may be ready to give up on the Spanish international and that the Scot is actively seeking a replacement for the former Atletico Madrid custodian.
Barcelona’s current first choice keeper Victor Valdes is reportedly considering his future at the Nou Camp and with his current contract set to come to completion in 2014, there is scope perhaps for Tito Vilanova to be shopping for a fresh option.
22 year old De Gea had a shaky start to his Man United career and was for some time battling for Ferguson’s attention along with Dane Anders Lindegaard but over the past couple of months the youngster has impressed and has kept clean sheets in his last two Premier League appearances.
Man United £18.9m to bring De Gea to Old Trafford and as such it seems unlikely that Ferguson would consider offers for the Spaniard just 18 months after his arrival.
