Emirates Stadium side encouraged by actions of long term target.
Sky Sports claims that long term Arsenal target Lucas Biglia has failed to turn up for Anderlecht’s winter training camp in Turkey, sparking speculation that the 26 year old will leave the Brussels based club.
As well as interest from the Emirates Stadium fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United and Norwich City are also said to be keeping a close eye on the experienced defensive midfielder with Anderlecht already eyeing up a replacement for the Argentine international.
Biglia joined the Anderlecht 2006 and is thought to have an eight million euro (£6.6m) price tag and is the Belgian champions club captain.
The former Independiente man has racked up over 200 appearances for Anderlecht and helped them to three domestic titles whilst also managing to force his way into the Argentina national team set-up, despite plying his trade in one of Europe’s relatively average leagues.
Arsene Wenger could well do with a defensively minded midfield addition as his North London side appear to lack a steely edge and the Gunners boss has had to adapt creative midfielder Mikel Arteta into holding role to make up for the lack of an enforcer of any note on his club’s books.
